‘Design-a-light for Christmas’ competition for local schools

Since 2007 we have organised this annual competition for local primary schools and are very grateful to Tring Town Council, Tring & Villages Extended Schools Consortium and Tring Tomorrow for sponsoring it. Each year pupils in Class 6 are asked to create a drawing that can be turned into a Christmas light.

The theme each year is "The Magic of Christmas" and the two best drawings are selected from all entries. These winning designs are made into enormous light decorations and put up as a part of Tring High Street's Christmas light display. The two winners are then invited onto the stage at Tring's Christmas Festival where they switch on their lights to officially open the event!

2009 winners:Angel’ – Grace Elvins (Grove Road School) Christmas stocking’ – Beccy Webb (Dundale School)

2007 winners:  ‘Bells’ – Chloe Brace (Francis House School)

Reindeer’ – Grace May Boyes (Long Marston School)
If anyone has photos of the winning entries from 2008 could you please contact Jane Randrup - thank you!

Get Stuffed was formed about three years ago to bring London quality comedy to Hertfordshire. The shows are based in Tring and all events support good causes.  Youth and sport have been a key driver but this has now been expanded to include local and national charities including Tring School, Iain Rennie Hospice at Home, The Sick Children’s Trust and the Thames Valley and Chilterns Air Ambulance Trust.  To date over £18,000 has been raised.

High Street flower boxes

Tring Together's flower troughs

We have just completed the summer planting of our flower boxes thanks to the generosity of Tring Lions and Tring Living Magazine, who sponsored the flowers this year and also came along to help with the planting.

We are very grateful for this support and also to the other businesses that have sponsored them over the years. We would also like to thank Colin Jones from Tring Town Council for his continued assistance.

Tring Spring Fayre 1st-15th May 2010

Tring Spring Fayre

The photos below were taken on the launch day of Tring Spring Fayre 1st May - an event that aims to get people out and about and enjoying Tring in Spring!

There were animals on Church Square for children to feed and stroke, as well as stalls provided by Tring in Transition, Tring Extended Schools Consortium and Sunnyside Rural Trust.

We were also there giving away copies of Tring Days Out and providing information on other activities and events taking place during the two weeks.

Pupils from Francis House School performed songs in Dolphin Square where M&S were running a Spring taste event. St Peter and St Paul church was also open to visitors and will be for the whole two weeks of the Spring Fayre.

A whole series of walks and Spring themed activities followed 1st-15th May. To read this year's programme of events please click here.

If you or your group would like to get involved next year we would love to hear from you!

Tring Days Out - a fabulous new guide to Tring

Tring Days Out This beautifully presented, 46-page book, is the essential guide for those wanting to get more out of living or visiting Tring; it also features many stunning photographs of Tring and surrounding countryside. Various chapters explore the wealth of leisure options in the area and suggest routes to explore them in either a leisurely or energetic manner.

Six of the chapters are supported by special itineraries, which are contained on individual sheets inside the back cover wallet. Each itinerary includes fascinating narrative and a detailed map to encourage people to explore the routes on foot or by bike:

Tring Days Out is available to buy from (Corbetts) The Bookshop, Tring High Street for £2.50

Tring Together successfully received funding from The Quality Of Place Programme, a regional grant scheme operated by the East of England Development Agency and Action for Market Towns, to produce the Tring Days Out book. We would like to thank Tring Town Council and Dacorum Borough Council for their additional sponsorship of this project. Tring Days Out has been produced by a team of local writers who know and love the area.
